Is The Current Way Of Running A Detailing Business Dying Out?

It's getting way too competitive

It doesn't help when the general public doesn't see the value of getting their car detailed

Walk on the street, ask if anyone if they will pay $1,000 to get their car detailed and they straight up think you're a scammer

The worst part, most detailing businesses kinda looks the same from a bird's eye view...

Generalism is the big problem we're currently facing

Similar logo, similar branding, similar price points, and targeting pretty much the same type of demographic

Not only that, but there are also plenty of detailers undercutting each other with fly-by-night detailers popping up with the exact same marketing

How can you market yourself and not drown?

One of my mentors told me in my early days of entrepreneurship: If you have competitors, you're already in a losing battle

Competition is like a double edge sword - it's a sign of a healthy economy and industry, but it's an uphill battle for the business owner

With small, passionate detailers, how are they going to compete with the big established guys?

Which I actually have found the answer to and that is something I've been working my ass off lately...

Which I TRULY believe with my entire heart and soul it will shake up the entire detailing (or even the automotive) industry

Transforming detailers to what I call the New-age detailing business, or Detailing 2.0 if you will

Where instead of being cut-dry generic detailers offering the same services as the other guys with massive competition,

(Even for ceramic coatings as they are getting too saturated)

We niche down, target and brand ourselves as a specialist in a specific segment of the market

It could be targeting and offering:
- Specific type of brand
- Specific type of service (I know some PPF guys offering ONLY wraps and doing more than $100k/month)
- Specific type of vehicles (e.g 4x4s or trucks)

The list has endless possibilities

If you try and market to everyone as a detailer, offering a generic detailing service, you're going to drown with endless price battles with random everyday soccer mum interior jobs

But however, if you market yourself as a specialist to a specific niche, you will become their go-to detailer working on vehicles you love and have passion for

And then now you're in a market of your own

Your marketing and message will be 10x, if not 100x stronger than your competitors

Now imagine having that together with your high-ticket services, your business is going to explode

Eg.
- I specialize in preserving classic Jaguars and maintain their condition
- I specialize in restoring BMW's paint with paint correction
- I specialize in tinting European vehicles with ceramic tint
- I specialize in restoring and maintaining classic JDM vehicles
- I specialize in detailing small private planes
- I specialize in applying PPF on trucks

Offering paint correction specifically for a type of vehicle is 10x stronger than just saying "I'm a detailer and I do paint corrections"

That's how you define your unique market without competitors

If every detailer does this, there will be no undercutting, no price battles, and barely any competition because every business will look so different than each other

That is just the tip of the iceberg of Detailing 2.0

When comes to running and growing a business to the 6-7 calibre, it's not only about delivering a great quality service

It's a system where there's also
- Branding
- Sales
- Marketing (with the current landscape of social media ads)
- Business operations
- Managing a team and culture
- Principles and mindset

Which it's just as important as any part of the business as a whole

Good news is, I'm currently intaking ONLY a few more students in my Uplevel Detailing program this month where I help them to transform their business to Detailing 2.0

Nailing down a niche, ideal clients, high ticket price points, implementing targeted marketing and high-ticket sales to book high-value clients in their niche consistently like a clockwork

The whole running and growing a detailing business side that no one really has talked about or even been taught, especially for Detailing 2.0

I want to make sure that my car looks nice. It's good to know that you can have them detailed to look as good as new! I'll be sure to work with a detailing specialist to provide that for me.
