The 4 Things You Need To Scale Your Detailing Business To The 6-7 Figure Calibre
Barely anyone knows how to scale a detailing business Even if they do, they don't talk about it or share it with others. It's their business "secret recipe" yo I've worked with several businesses and scaling a service-based business is one of the hardest, if not THE hardest thing to do I do not believe in keeping secret recipes - I believe in providing the highest value to others In business, the person who provides the highest value wins While businesses hide their secrets, I give all my secrets out (not only my secrets, but also your competitor’s secret too. I know exactly how they run their businesses and how they get their high-paying clients 😉) To get to the 6-7 calibre you need to see yourself as a business owner and a salesman, not a detailer There are PLENTY of amazing detailers out there but they are just not business-minded "I'll just do my best and let my work speaks for itself" "Word of mouth will spread itself" Yes, word of mouth is the best form of advertising but it's VERY unpredictable and you CAN'T rely on it to bring consistent work Especially when your family's food depends on it If you don't know how to sell yourself, then you will always struggle to get high-paying clients.. So here are the 4 things you need to scale your detailing business: ➡️ 1) A system to GENERATE high-quality leads to get them through the door How do you generate leads? What is your #1 go-to method to generate leads when you don't have clients booked for the following weeks and you have to pay rent? Most detailers CANNOT answer this question. They say things like: "erm, probably just wait until the phone rings" "It's just a bad season, it's school holidays, christmas, queens birthday blah blah blah" You need a system that can generate leads consistently with predictability ➡️ 2) A finely tuned and honed sales process to CONVERT leads to high-paying customer Getting leads is only a quarter of the equation, another part of the equation is how do you convert leads into a high-paying client? That's where high-ticket detailing sales comes into place Knowing the exact steps and process of turning a phone call into a high-paying client Most detailers SUCK at sales How do you know if you're bad at sales? Is when you can't book a general detail for more than $300. $300 is child's play When you start booking your services at $1,000-$5,000 consistently, that's when you know you're crushing it with sales How? Shifting from selling features to solutions to their problems Your clients don’t care your process on how you do things, your clients only care about the results of your work No use explaining how many hours you’re going to do, what you’re going to include etc when the only thing they care about is the result Ask what problem do they have and why they are getting it done, and use that to close the sale - not what you’ll do And also having a script, and a method to systematically close sales that you know it works ➡️ 3) Service delivery - hiring and managing A-players This is where a lot of detailing business owners get stuck, and they can’t move forward from this point They can't handle the work themselves, so they start hiring people and training them but they just don't know how to find the right people and manage them But when you first start hiring people, hiring a team should NOT be the first thing you do Hire contractors first. It’s easy to start with and it’s easy to manage as they are not a part of your payroll There are plenty of good contractors out there to start working with Hiring and being a team player is a whole ball of another dimension of the game vs a solopreneur Talented A-players are extremely hard to find, and they NEED convincing to work for your company in the long run. It’s not just paying them a salary and expect them to perform. Talented A-players are in this more than just money Ask yourself these questions: - Why would someone want to join my team? - What is my company’s vision, mission statement and core values? - What is my company’s culture? (Culture is HUGE. Culture defines someone’s work ethic when you as a boss are not looking) - Growth and incentives? Do NOT settle for B or C players. B players breed lower quality players and will only give you headaches ➡️ 4) Economics - Running your business like a well-oiled machine Once you have the first 2 parts honed and refined, you should be making at least make $10k/month. Now it’s time to scale up the business to high 6 figures or even 7 figures: 1) You know how to generate leads predictably 2) You know how to convert leads systematically The final piece of the puzzle is how to optimize your service delivery to run it like a machine Ask yourself: - How long does it take to complete my X service from end to end? - Can the service delivery be delivered without me being there? - How can I optimize the service to turn around faster, more efficient without compromising the quality of the work? - How much volume can I bring in to my service delivery machine, if not, how can I optimize to bring in more volume? - Volume = work = profit Here’s the view of the whole economic system: Input > Process > Output - The Input is cranking up your lead generation system - The process is your lead conversion and service delivery - The output is how satisfied your customer Once you run your business as a system, and it’s refined to the point it's running like a well-oiled machine - you can start cranking it up and pump volume through the system and scale it to the moon 😏💪 I help detailing business owners grow to 6 figures by consistently getting high-paying paint correction, ceramic coating and PPF clients with predictability in 6 weeks If you want to level up your detailing business and scale things up to the next level, I'm currently offering a free 45-minute strategy session where we'll dive deep down where you are right now and where you want to grow this business to, and we'll map out how we can bridge that gap.
